"I want to mention that I am not associated with this company in any way. The first time I talked to or saw anyone was approximately three months ago. So, if you want to find out the nitty gritty about this company, please read this review. I don’t think you will be disappointed. This review is at least double the size of my previous longest review. Over the past 44 years I have hired many businesses. Gulf Coast Windows & Doors is now at the top of my list for best company to hire. Several months ago, my wife and I decided to get hurricane windows. For me, the lowest bid is not always the best company to do the job. Once I had 4 bids to install a fence in my backyard. I felt uncomfortable with the salesman of the company that provided me with the lowest bid so I selected the company with the second lowest bid and I was not disappointed. Hiring the company that provides the lowest bid doesn’t always mean that they will have poor workmanship. The great workmanship of Gulf Coast Windows & Doors won me over. I searched Angi and Google to find four different window companies with good reviews. They gave me estimates for removing the 10 windows and replacing them with hurricane impact windows. The price range was from $18,900 to $27,000. I am not revealing the names of the other three companies because this is not necessary. I did not select Gulf Coast Windows and Doors because they had the lowest bid. The owner’s son “Robert” has two roles with the company (salesman and installer). I felt comfortable with Robert. He was patient with me and he answered my many questions. Robert provided me with better information than the other 3 window companies when I was trying to get an estimate. Also, he gave me great communication before, during, and after the new windows were installed. Gulf Coast Windows & Doors have lower overhead than other window companies. For one thing, they have fewer employees. I was not disappointed when I selected them to install the new windows. The other 3 companies had more employees and they told me that they can install the window in 1-2 days but in my opinion, the workmanship would probably not be as good as this company. You will find out more later as I explain why they are so good. It took them 3 days to install the windows. I watched all of these workers for the full three days. If you want quality, go with Gulf Coast Windows & Doors. One example of their quality is that they took the time to remove the excess little tiny black pieces of weatherstripping that gets splattered around the window perimeter from the manufacturer. The weatherstripping is all intact. After using a razor blade, it became a cleaner look. These workers were very meticulous. The owner always made sure that the quality was there. The owner told me that he performs the work as if it was his house. I know this sounds like a cliché but it is true. Here is what I am talking about. The first day they came to my house, I told the owner that I have a leaking problem where I have a half-moon window above the first bedroom window. The half moon window is approximately six inches deep thereby creating a six inch flat ledge where rain can puddle and cause problems. I did not tell the owner to do anything and it was not in the contract. The next day after he installed the half-moon window, he covered the ledge with stucco and gave it a pitch so rain would not puddle there any more. Then, he primed the stucco so all I have to do is paint it. I have never known any company that would do this without being told, so I thanked him of course. After they removed this window, they were prepping the window opening to install the half-moon hurricane window. I asked the owner if they can install the window flush against the outside wall, which I thought looked nice. Boy, was I wrong. We both went inside to see how it looked. It looked terrible. I had them install it indented about 6 inches like it was before. It is my belief that most installer companies would say I can install it flush against the wall and they won’t suggest to see how it looks from the inside. This is the type of company I like doing business with. All 4 workers have great personalities and patience especially with me. I am the type of person who always likes asking questions. If any of them read this, I am sure they will chuckle. The owner and his son “Robert” have a great father and son relationship. I truly believe they were not faking their relationship because I was there. They all take pride in their work and that is not easy to find these days. When I grew up in the 60s & 70s, most workers took pride in work. They all have great workmanship. Believe me, I am very meticulous. The half-moon hurricane window above our entry door was extremely difficult to remove and install. My house was built in 1999 and I feel that all they wanted to do was to be build the houses quickly and make money. They were not concerned about quality. I know you are probably thinking that they still do that now and you are not wrong but I believe it was worse back then. I, as well as the owner, were very surprised about this one thing. The workers in 1999 installed the half-moon window over the entry door extra strong. I asked the owner if this was his toughest window to remove and install ever. I thought he was going to say no but he said yes. In my opinion, I think that he could have installed two small windows (like you would find in a bathroom) in the same time that it took for them to remove/install the new hurricane window above the entry door. The owner has very high integrity. Here are two other examples of his integrity. Today, when the other workers were working inside, the owner was working outside. So, I approached the owner to see if he had a policy that you should not tip his workers. I liked his response. He said I could tip his two employees but don’t tip me or his son Robert. Then I told him I was going to give him the 50% balance I owed him for completing the job. He would not accept my check until after the windows were inspected by the county. If that doesn’t speak integrity, I do not know what does. By now, you are probably thinking that all I am doing is hyping this company so they can get more customers and you would be wrong. My intention is to provide the reader with enough information so an intelligent decision can be made. No company is perfect. If I had to say anything negative about this company it would be three things. They were about an hour late the first day because they had to pick up the windows. While going in and out of my house, they chipped off a little bit of the drywall in one corner wall and then they fixed it. Accidents happen but as long as they fix it, it is fine with me. The other thing is they flattened 4 plants in front of my front bedroom window. This one I can’t blame them because this was a large window and any other window company would have done the same thing. These plants were directly in front of the window. They, just like me, believe safety is number one. These are thick and heavy hurricane windows. I believe that the two small bathroom hurricane windows each weighed between 60-70 lbs. You could do the math to find out how much a double window would weigh. They were carrying a large heavy window and they were unable to dodge the plants I have there that are close together. These hurricane windows become more interesting when you try to open and close them. The original windows that were removed were very light and easy to open and close. These new hurricane windows requires a little effort to both open and close. You will feel the heaviness. You will have to apply a little more force to close the window than to open it because the weatherstripping provides a nice tight seal. Two of our windows have three vertical panels. The center panel is stationary and the other two side panels slide towards the center panel like sliding glass doors. Because of egress, three panel windows are not allowed in bedrooms but a two panel window is allowed. We have a two panel hurricane window in our master bedroom. These three vertical windows really look nice. If nothing else, it will be a conversation piece. I hope to notice that during the next year that the claims made by both Gulf Coast Windows & Doors and PGT will be true. Below are some of the claims. There should be a big reduction in temperature at each window. This past summer I put three temperature gauges on the window ledges inside the house at three different windows. During the hot summer months they all read between 90-92˚ when the temperature outside was between 90-92˚. This will be a true test of that PGT claim. Another claim by PGT is that there will be a reduction in your electric bill. I did some research on the internet and it appears that the reduction will be between 5 to 10 dollars a month. My main intention for purchasing these windows is for hurricane and burglar safety. Any other claims are icing on the cake. There should be a big reduction in traffic sounds, etc. This is another PGT claim. I’ll know right away because of foot traffic and motor vehicle traffic especially garbage trucks. I have no doubt that I will not have any problems with this third claim. Actually, I don’t remember if the owner or Robert told me about this one. They probably did tell me that I shouldn’t have a problem with window leaks. I will definitely find this out during the next rainy summer. Anyway, I witnessed the meticulous work they all did installing these windows so I seriously doubt that I will have any leak issues. If I do then they will fix it. I am not positive but I believe the owner told me their workmanship is warranted for five years and PGT warrants their windows for 25 years. Don’t quote me on this. The county inspector came and he told me that we passed the inspection. He told me that he inspected 26 houses today and a few failed. I contacted the owner today and he came today to install the trim around the two half-moon windows. The owner had to leave the trim off so the inspector could see the screws around the perimeter of each window. After he completed that task, I gave him the final 50% check. Our 10 hurricane windows were completely installed five days ago. We have lived in our house for 26 years now. What I am about to tell you has never happened before. We keep our winter temperature at 69˚ so the heater won’t turn on until the temperature drops below that. In the past when the outside temperature is in the high 40s, the heater turns on. This morning the outside temperature was 35˚ and the inside temperature was 70˚. I verified the inside temperature by looking at all three gauges we have and they were all at 70˚. Needless to say, the heater never came on last night or this morning. The new hurricane windows were the only thing that was changed in the house. So, one benefit has already started. I am very curious to see what will happen in the hot summer months. Rob, I told you that this was going to be a long review. I hope I have not bored everyone. If I was looking for any company to hire, I would love to read a review like this that hopefully provides enough information for the reader to make an informed decision."

"My significant other purchased 8 windows and 9ft sliding glass door and 2 entry doors eleven years ago . I've been wanting to call the owners of the company since the last Hurricane Milton to tell the owners of the company how pleased we were with the performance that this product performed very well .We had no leaks or water coming under our sliding door and I thought certain we would .This was a costly endeavor .In our set of circumstances we felt safe and our animals did very well as I'm sure the noise was very much toned down which made for a lot less stress for our fur babies. It was the one investment that my other half Wayne Sherman felt that we made a wise choice in choosing these windows and doors. We had trouble a while back with our sliding door handle and the company came the next day and replaced the handle. I was happy to share our positive experience with the owners son who actually answered the phone I was happy to share who pleased we were although there have been some scary storms in the 11 years since the installment this Hurricane Milton hit far to close for our comfort and with so many people who are without their homes we are happy that this company held true to their word and carry such a fine quality product.Thank you even after these number of years have gone by. 😊"

"When I shopped for windows, I had about eight companies come out and give me their sales demonstrations and quotes, then my neighbor recommended Gulf Coast windows and doors, but I really did not want to sit through another demonstration. I had Rob come out and explained that I didn’t need much information, but only wanted an estimate. Rob confirmed my measurements on all my windows and said he would have a quote over to me that afternoon. Their pricing was at the low end of all the quotes that I received. I felt good selecting Gulf Coast because they are a smaller company with a consistent installation team and no sales pressure at all. I had PGT windows put in two months ago and I’m very happy with the windows and doors. The installation team was quick and efficient. I highly recommend Gulf Coast Windows and Doors."

"Gulf Coast Windows and Doors from Palm Harbor. A father (Rob) and son (Robert) run the company — Robert on the sales side, and both on the install side. They are a fantastic team and are completely in line with their company motto: local, honest, prime products, clean, quick responses, and no pushy sales. What a delight it was to work with them from first contact to the after-install evaluation. Highly recommended."
