What to Expect on Window Installation Day

For most homeowners, having windows and doors replaced is a once-in-a-decade (or once-in-a-lifetime) project. It's natural to wonder what to expect. Here's a real walkthrough of how a typical installation day goes with our team.

Before We Arrive

We ask homeowners to clear furniture and window treatments away from the windows being replaced — typically 2–3 feet of clearance. Fragile items near windows should be moved. We handle everything else.

Arrival and Protection

We arrive during the agreed window (usually 8–9am) and immediately lay down drop cloths and floor protection at every work area. We take our homes seriously — we're working in yours, and we treat it accordingly.

Removing the Old Windows

Old windows are carefully removed and set aside. We inspect the rough opening for any rot, damage, or moisture intrusion that needs to be addressed before the new unit goes in. If we find something, we'll show you and explain the options before proceeding.

Installation

New windows are installed, shimmed for level and plumb, and fastened according to manufacturer specs and Florida Building Code requirements. Exterior gaps are sealed with flashing tape and/or caulk rated for Florida's climate. Interior trim is replaced and finished.

Cleanup and Walkthrough

When every window is installed, we do a full cleanup — all old materials, packaging, and debris are removed from your property. Then we walk you through every window we installed, show you how to operate them, and answer any questions. We don't leave until you're satisfied.

After Installation

We handle the permit inspection scheduling. You don't need to be present for the inspector — we coordinate directly. Once the inspection passes, your permit is closed and your project is complete. Most single-family homes are done in 1–3 days.
