A June 1st readiness check for Pinellas County homeowners

June 1st, 2027. Another Atlantic hurricane season begins. This year, as every year, there are two types of homeowners in Pinellas County: those who made the preparation they intended to make, and those who meant to but didn't quite get there. If you're in the second group, here's an honest look at where you stand and what you can still do.
Three questions:
If all three are yes — you're as prepared as you can be from a structural standpoint. If any are no, read on.
If you have shutters, this is the week to deploy them mentally — walk through where each panel goes, confirm the hardware is present and functional, make sure nothing is stored in front of the windows they need to cover. If any shutters are damaged or missing, address that this week.
For windows without any protection: this season, you're relying on the structure and your evacuation decision. Make sure you know your evacuation zone and take mandatory orders seriously.
Do a quick visual check: any chips or cracks in the glass from the past year? Any hardware that doesn't engage properly? Any visible gaps in frame caulking? Address these items now rather than after a storm makes them worse.
If you're still without full impact protection, November through March is your window. Start the conversation now — call us and schedule an assessment for this fall. We'll note your home, provide a quote, and follow up when installation season opens up. You don't want to have this same conversation in May 2028.
Stay safe this season. We hope for a quiet one — and we help make sure that whatever the season brings, the homes we've worked on are ready for it.
