You ask?? What Are Slider Window’s?

A sliding window has two sashes with at least one that slides horizontally past the other. While one sliding sash and one fixed sash is the most common option. However; it is possible to purchase windows which allow both sashes to slide.

These type of windows are best to place in areas where an outward opening window (casement or awning) might get in the way.  An example would be a walk-way or a deck.

They require less parts which makes them an ideal choice when considering the durability of the window. They are light weight and allow opening and closing with minimal effort by releasing a latch.

Choosing the perfect windows for your home can be a tuff task, but with a variety of options and some guidance, window shopping can be a easy breezy. For windows that are both easy to open and will last for years to come, we recommend slider windows for Florida homes.

Sliding windows can also be referred to as gliding or slider windows.

Characteristics of Slider Windows

Because slider windows require less parts than many other types of windows, they tend to be more durable, while their light weight allows for easy opening and closing. Simply release the window latch and smoothly slide the sash to open your window and allow a beautiful breeze inside.

As their name suggests, slider windows are composed of two sashes with at least one sash that slides horizontally past the other to open. Usually, the most common choice is a window with one sliding sash and another fixed sash that does not slide, however, some homeowners prefer to install sliding windows with two movable sashes.

Now that I Have My Free Estimate Scheduled, What Should I Ask?

After taking some time to think, you’ve made the decision to start shopping around for some new windows.  Companies typically have a requirement for “free” in-home consultations.  The process where you sit for a minimum of 1 hour with a representative and he or she will discuss some options. Then, you’re provided a quote based on several factors addressed by your consultant. In-home estimates can take some time, but think of it as your chance to ask all the questions you can about window prices, installation, benefits, etc. We understand that customers live busy lives and just want to know the “how much?” but there’s much more to think about when you’re replacing your windows.

Here’s some questions you should ask your design consultant during your estimate:

What windows are best for my rooms? The climate of where you live can play a role in the type of windows you need. Windows suitable for certain climates are important in keeping your home energy efficient.

How do the windows operate? Different styles of windows can have varying locking and opening features. Some windows slide up or down, but others can tilt and turn out for easy cleaning. Your consultant will have samples available to try it out for yourself! This is also a great opportunity to address various concerns.

How long will the installation take? Typically, the process from sale to installation can take about 6 weeks.  Here at Gulf Coast Windows and Doors, LLC, we custom make our windows to order, so they aren’t readily in stock just to deliver. Keep in mind that every window installation is different and can vary. We will keep you in the process every step of the way.

What happens if I have any issues after my windows are installed? The last thing anyone wants is a damaged window. This is a great time to ask about the specifics of the warranties. Take time to ask thorough questions about what is covered before making a final decision. If we make an error during the shipment process, the replacement is on us.
